Speaking of the Olympics, I’m glad to see so many people in countries across the world protesting China’s hosting of the games. It still makes me irate that we would hold the games in a country with such a long and current history of human rights violations…. despicable.
Hopefully, you’re not the only one.
Finally made it over, whew, what a day!!
Great post - We need to speak up. The atrocities throughout the world are horrific and they to be coming from a common source.
I’m glad you’re not part of the silent majority.
Thanks for stopping by, Michelle.
The more I think about it, the more I realize that there is certainly more than enough blame to go around. To limit an atrocity like genocide to a single group is to limit our ability to stop it.
And that must not happen.
I meant to say, “they seem to be coming from a single source.” Hatred, I’m thinking.
I’m not sure if ineffective policies amount to hatred, but indifference could sure be seen that way. I think we’re relying upon the wrong source to help, the UN is not capable of handling the situation. I believe it is complicit many times. Just my thinking…not at all trusting of that organization.
Thanks for clarifying, Michelle.
Hatred, apathy, the complacency of prosperity, the isolation of materialism…all that often adds up to inaction.
I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I do know we’ve got to work with what we’ve got. So I’ve signed petitions, posted my photograph, and now I’ve got that sign right next to the link here on my web log.
And in case I forget, I just want to say Thank You to my good friend, Richard, and his wife, Ann, for keeping me focused when I get discouraged. You are both a great blessing.
And don’t forget Richard: “No green bananas!”
