A Storm Is Coming: Our Approach

December 4, 2008 by TheNorEaster

“Some people think that going through the losses or the crises of life are the exceptional times.  I see it differently.  I see the times of calm as the exceptions.  Life really is just going through one loss after another, one crisis after another.

“Instead of avoiding talking about these times, let’s do our homework.  When you know what to expect, you’re not thrown by them so much, and you’re going to be better able to recover.”

~Dr. H. Norman Wright
(excerpt taken from Through a Season of Grief)

“I would also add:  I think it’s important that we, as Christians, also address everything that everyone else addresses.  We have all the same issues and all the same problems.  All the same fears, or whatever, that anyone else does.

“It’s our approach in these matters, I think, that makes all the difference.”

~Tam

I’m hearing a lot about this storm …. how far out is the weather forecast? 3 day? 7 day? 2 week? 2 month? a year? indeterminate? :) curiosity abounds.

The storm is coming, and our approach is everything! I could not agree more , ready to face the storm head on, and HE will either deliver me from it, or shelter me through it, but it is coming. I feel it in the depths of my being..

Annie: There is just one more vital piece of the puzzle yet to be put in place. And I had to ask someone else for help. Truth be told, I’m so grateful for that help that I really don’t want to put any pressure on the person. (And besides, I’m difficult enough to deal with!)

Darla: You got it. You don’t know what it is yet, but you SO got it! ;)

“I see the times of calm as the exceptions. Life really is just going through one loss after another, one crisis after another.”

You have me hooked on U2:

    “Yahweh, Yahweh…still I’m waiting for the dawn…Ooooh!”

    And then your sidebar:

“The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great light, and those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death, upon them a light dawned.” ~Matthew 4:16

I think I’m somewhere between seeing the Great Light and waiting for the dawn.

Times of calm have certainly been the exception.

I patiently await the storm… I have a feeling the wait will be worth it…

Michelle: It’s very easy to get hooked on U2, isn’t it? And the verse in my sidebar is pretty prevalent, don’t you think? A good friend of mine gave me that verse not too long ago. It fits TheNorEaster perfectly, doesn’t it?

“I think I’m somewhere between seeing the Great Light and waiting for the dawn.”

The “Great Light” and the “dawn” always come, but only at the will of The Father.

Carl: I certainly hope I can make it worth the wait, Brother.

And just what in tarnation happened to my avatar? I look like a kissing fish, for pete’s sake.

  8. on December 5, 2008 at 11:57 PM Michelle

Yes, U2 is addicting. I was listening to “With or Without You” tonight.

For me, the dawn is of a New Day, a heavenly day. That’s why I’m somewhere in between.

Yes, it’s all about His will. I’m so thankful He’s good, then I know His timing is right and I can rest easier…most days.

The verse fits perfectly. It’s all about the theme over here. ;)

But I get that. I have a theme too!

    ♥

You might not believe it, but I originally chose the theme because I have always had such a tough with titles.

I figured there was always some way I could find a title that relates to the natural world in some way. All I had to do was go outside and look around.

And that’s exactly what happened. Everything published on my blog has a title that somehow relates to the natural world.

AND it’s a fitting tribute to The Creator, too. ;)

    Dear Kissing Fish, ( :-) )

I think WordPress has been messing around with upgrades – my avatar suddenly reverted to something ancient too. When I changed it back, it somehow became a ‘gravatar’. Does that mean I’m especially attractive now, do you think? ;-)

Along with the others, I’m patiently awaiting the storm. I know it will be worth the wait.

  11. on December 6, 2008 at 11:04 AM TheNorEaster

I sent an e-mail to WP asking what the deal was with the ava-grava-blava-tar thingies. They explained how I should upload another one. I tried to upload, but the chose file uploading page option whatever just wouldn’t…Well, upload. :???:

And you know…I also tried that new blava-ava-grava-tar wha-cha-muh-call-it, but that hasn’t worked either.

    This is just too weird.

I hope The Coming Storm will be worth it…

…I’m kind of nervous it’s all going to just fall through the floor!!!

  12. on December 6, 2008 at 11:04 AM TheNorEaster

But at least I got rid of that Kissing Fish!

Your blog is a very fitting tribute to the Creator.

    ;)

I hope He thinks so.
