A Storm Is Coming: And It Is Yours

Tell your friends.  Tell all your friends

(Thanks, Mandy.)

So.  You all remember Mandy.  She’s the one who got us all to DO Something back in September.

Well, I was so inspired by the idea that I decided to steal it.  And Mandy was merciful enough to let me.  Not only that, she was gracious enough to put together the logo and the video for this series.

While DO Something inspired us, I hope Storm Stories will encourage us.

And offer the rest of the world something God has so graciously given us:  Hope.

So what is a Storm?  A tragedy.  A test.  A trial.

And another step on our long journey of sanctification.

Maybe you’ve got a disability or you’re going through a divorce.  Maybe your child once got seriously sick or you struggle with postpartum depression.  Maybe your spouse was unfaithful or you’re a recovering alcoholic.  And maybe you were unfaithful.

Maybe you got laid off last month or you’ve lost a parent to cancer.  Maybe you struggle, still, with drug addiction or bipolar disorder.  Maybe you lost a loved one in an accident or a friend to suicide.  And maybe you were once suicidal.

Maybe you’re worried about a daughter serving in the armed forces or you’ve lost a son in Iraq.  Maybe you’ve had a miscarriage or you’ve endured the pain of having an abortion.  Maybe you haven’t spoken to your father in years or you have been spiritually abused.  And maybe you were sexually abused.

Whatever it is, we have something the world does not have:  a faith in a God who is with us every step of the way.

He is the sunrise we seek through these storms.  And though our problems do not end when we commit our lives to Christ, He is still the strength and the healing through our many dangers, toils, and snares.

And never do I tell a tale until I have seen that sunrise.  Seen Him.

Tam had once said on  MTTV:  ”I think it’s important that we, as Christians, also address everything that everyone else addresses.  We have all the same issues and all the same problems.  All the same fears, or whatever, that anyone else does.  It’s our approach in these matters, I think, that makes all the difference.”

I think it’s time we followed her advice.  For real.

I think it’s time we made a difference.

Not for ourselves.  But to set a worthy example for those desperate for the Hope we have.

The Hope of Christ.

Are you willing to tell the world how God has been there for you through the tough times?

Will you share your Storm Story?
